If you are serious about your golf, tennis or cricket you may have used a Doppler gun at some point to measure the speed of your ball. The Ball Coach Radar is a discrete piece of equipment that automatically give you the fastest speed for the ball in a very simple to use way.

Simply hold the button down before the balls in flight and let go of the trigger once the speed is displayed on the screen. The Ball Coach measures from 25 mph to 130 mph and up to 120 feet of range. The accuracy of this little thing is sharp enough to rival the larger hand held guns (like the ones that get you speeding tickets in your car).

It claims to be accurate to the nearest mile and we haven’t found anything to dispute this. One thing I would like to see in the future is an app that can run alongside this tool that can collect all your data so you can look as you progress over the weeks and months because as it stands it can only hold the last 25 readings.

The great thing about the Ball Coach is you don’t need to use a timer or press anything to measure the ball, if you set it to Constant Use it will trigger automatically which means with a tripod you can measure your speed whilst practising by yourself. It comes with a smart case that you can attach to your belt and a wrist strap. The instructions are clear and easy to follow the only accessory you may wish to purchase is a tripod. Ideal for individual use or coaching. The biggest downside for me is the price (RRP $299.99), this is a very accurate piece of equipment but it is not without rivals but if you are looking for a professional measurement and money is no problem then this could be the training accessory for you.
