With a brand name inspired by the former world’s No. 1 Swedish tennis player, Bjorn Borg have been producing sports apparel since 1984, specialising in sports underwear. My partner came home from a particularly bouncy HIIT class rather red-faced, telling me that he never realised his junk jumped around as much as it did until he ended up in front of the gyms mirror, to which I simply rolled my eyes and said, “why do you think girls were sports bras?”
The Performance Shorts have been designed specifically for sports activities. Available in a whole host of colours and designs, they are constructed from 88% polyamide and 12% elastane, weighing in at 160g. Featuring flat seams to help prevent chaffing, the performance shorts use a wicking ‘Hydro Pro’ material to help keep you cool and dry as well as a snug fit that provides support without restricting movement. The Tee comes in a regular t-shirt cut and a fitted style, made from a single jersey layer that has BORG boldly printed on each arm, which actually looks kind of cool. It gets bonus points for being made from 90% Recycled Polyester and 10% Elastane and features the same Hydro Pro material.
The shorts performed well at providing comfort and support, but breathability wasn’t great and according to my tester, “things got just as sweaty as usual” - but at least things weren’t bouncing around as much! The Tee was ok but didn’t blow my tester away, his response was, “you could get the same performance for a lot cheaper,” but we loved the use of recycled materials. RRP (Shorts) £15 RRP (Tee): £25.00
