Epomaker Carbon60 Keyboard

$129.99

If a compact, low-profile and lightweight keyboard is what you’re looking for, then the Epomaker Carbon60 is your go-to keyboard. The keyboard features a unique super-compact design with only 61 keys. However, even with the keyboard being so small, it does not compromise on functionality, delivering a super-innovative design perfect for using whether mastering a game or remaining productive whilst on the go.

The Carbon60 has removed all the extras from a traditional keyboard and left you with just the essential keys. This means there is no large gasket around the keys, instead, the keyboard is barely larger than where the keys end. The keyboard we tested comes in an all black carbon fibre casing, with just the ESC and enter keys in a light blue. These match the lanyard attached to the left of the keyboard, making it super easy to carry with you and throw in a bag for typing, note taking, or gaming on the go. I like the smaller design; it's definitely something unique that I haven’t seen in the keyboard market before.

Whilst its compact size is intriguing, the functionality and enhanced typing of the keyboard is just like that of many of Epomaker's larger keyboards. Each key has DSA low-profile double-shot keycaps, which deliver a comfortable and tactile typing experience even in such a compact format. I personally don’t think I could use this full time as someone who types for work as the keyboard is very small, and adjusting to the smaller size does take a little getting used to. However, I will say the satisfying typing experience does make it more comfortable for longer typing sessions than other keyboards I’ve tried, so for working whilst on the go or for use whilst at university where bringing a larger traditional keyboard might not be as functional, it’s a really great option.

Like most of Epomaker's keyboards, the keyboard features south-facing RGB lights under each key, which deliver a fun and aesthetically pleasing appearance that looks great in any work or gaming set-up. Plus, each of the keys is GMK/VIA programmable, so you can customize the layout to suit your needs. This is especially perfect for this keyboard, as you can set up specific shortcuts to enhance your productivity and workflow even without the typical functions bar, number pad or arrow keys on the keyboard.

I think this keyboard would be the perfect choice for those needing a keyboard for working on the go, as the compact and lightweight design makes it ideal for attaching to your laptop bag via the lanyard for secure and easy transportation. Plus, with a 3000mAh battery inside, your work or gaming is supported by a good charge period before you need to charge again – so you don’t have to worry about it cutting out mid-workflow or game. This would be a game-changer for those at university, as the keyboard can be connected to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth to take efficient notes, and then you can just throw the keyboard into your bag without the weight of a traditional keyboard for easy portability.

If you want a keyboard that is designed for easy use, great portability and superior functionality, the Epomaker Carbon60 is a brilliant option. I love the compact size, which does not compromise on functionality and typing experience. Whilst I personally prefer a larger keyboard for long typing sessions, this would be a great choice for those who are limited on desk space or want an innovative keyboard design to help you remain productive even whilst on the go.

Pros:

  • Lightweight and compact for easy use whilst on the go
  • Completely programmable to make its functions completely yours – ideal with the reduced size to create your own shortcuts
  • Aesthetically pleasing design that is minimalist but professional looking for your work set up

Cons:

  • The compact size means it’s a little less functional for long typing sessions as some of the keys have been removed to save space, and so I found it took a little getting used to, which may not be ideal for use in your everyday static office setup
