As the months turn colder and we have windows and doors open less and less, it's easy for our homes to get a little stuffy and for humidity levels to rise. This can lead to condensation on windows, doors and walls, which is a breeding ground for mould, resulting in a not-so-nice space to be living in. Therefore, a dehumidifier, such as the Smart WiFi Dehumidifier from TCP, offers an easy solution to draw excess moisture from the air to keep windows condensation-free and your air quality better for an overall healthier living space.
The TCP Smart WiFi Dehumidifier is a great compact unit that has a powerful fan to draw moisture from the air and store this in the unit's 2-litre water tank. The dehumidifier draws moisture from the air until it reaches your desired humidity level, or until the water tank is full. Once full, the machine alerts you to this, so you can pull the water tank out, pour away the water, and get back to dehumidifying your room. I find this particularly helpful when I’ve just washed some clothes, as the TCP Smart WiFi Dehumidifier can sit under the clothes drying rack to absorb excess water, helping my clothes to dry quicker and to stop the excess moisture from causing mould to grow in my house.
One of the big benefits of the TCP Smart WiFi Dehumidifier is that it comes with a built-in HEPA filter, which makes it perfect for those who suffer from allergies. The HEPA filter helps to filter out allergens and airborne particles from the air, which makes the dehumidifier ideal all year round to help cut down on pet, dust and pollen particles. Thus, as an all-year-round unit, the TCP Smart WiFi Dehumidifier is designed to offer top-quality air circulation to actively reduce damp and mould, whilst also filtering the air in your home to make every breath a little fresher.
The easy connectivity of the TCP Smart WiFi Dehumidifier is one of my favourite things about the unit, as you can connect the dehumidifier to your phone via the TCP Smart app to allow you to control the dehumidifier even when you’re not at home. Whilst at home, you can either use the app to turn on and program the dehumidifier, or you can connect it with Alexa or Google Home to be able to tell the dehumidifier to turn on without even having to press a button. However, I love that I can connect to the dehumidifier even whilst I’m away via the app to ensure that the humidity levels in my home are always being managed – just be sure to check the water filter is empty before you leave, as once it's full it automatically turns off to avoid overflowing!
A dehumidifier might not be the first choice when it comes to a Christmas present, but in a world where everything is very expensive, sometimes the holidays are the best time to get larger appliances that make life a little easier. This would be such a great gift for someone who's just moved into a new flat or university dorm to help reduce humidity and condensation, or for those who want to help improve the air in their house. It’s a useful appliance, and one that makes life a little easier – a great gift if you ask me!
Pros:
- Remote controlled via the TCP Smart App for enhanced controllability, no matter where you are
- Built-in HEPA filter for allergen filtration
- Intuitive touch display for easy humidity monitoring
Cons:
- Once the 2litre tank is full, the dehumidifier will auto shut off, and so does needs to be regularly emptied to get the most effective dehumidification out of it
