The newly re-designed Deluxe Bottle Steriliser from Dr Brown’s uses steam to sterilise six bottles at once. It has been designed specifically for all Dr Brown’s bottles and most other bottle brands too. This steriliser has an easy-to-use operation with electronic controls, cycle indicators and an automatic shut-off when a cycle is finished. There is a removable tray that is designed to position bottles so that steam is directed straight into them, and the built-in accessory tray holds bottle parts, teats, dummies, tongs and measuring cup.
My first impressions were that the steriliser is sturdy but could have a cleaner finish; the lid needs a little wobble sometimes to get it to shut properly; the control panel is simple to use but the buttons, especially the start button, can be difficult to press - I would rather something more tactile and easy to press. You can easily get your bottles into the steriliser, but when you have all six spaces filled, there is no room for the bottle tops, which means you will have to run two cycles to get all of your gear cleaned. Due to the design of the machine, it isn’t easy to clean and dry in between all the nooks and crannies. Also, the sheer size of the thing means it isn’t exactly travel friendly. However, saying that, it isn’t heavy, so it’s not impossible. The colour indicator on the cycle guide provides a quick reference to how far along the program is, and I like that you can switch the steriliser it on and leave it to do its thing.
The Dr Brown's Deluxe Steriliser works as it should; it is quick and convenient, but there are a few niggles that prevent it from being an excellent product. A tidier finish, an easier way to clean it and the ability to put all bottles and lids in at the same time would be enough to win us over. RRP £75
