TensCare are Europe’s largest distributor of TENS machines; something that anyone who has had a baby or suffered a sports injury may be familiar with.
For those not in the know, a TENS machine (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) sends a mild electrical pulse to the muscles to help relieve pain. The machine can also be used to help tone up muscles- the idea behind the iTouch and Elise. Specifically designed to help women with weak pelvic floor muscles, Tenscare offer an efficient alternative to both surgery and medication.
Due to the specific features of this product, we gave it to a friend to test- she had checked with her GP and been signed off by her midwife. Both products feature 4 pre-programmed to target specific needs, you can adjust the level of intensity to make sure it is comfortable. The probe may look a little intimidating, but we have been rest assured it is easy and comfortable to use.
Both the iTouchsure and the Elise are discrete and have a safety override, meaning it will automatically switch off after 20minutes. Tenscare recommended a 12 week cycle before any results, however our tester noticed a difference after only 3, commenting, ‘it was really easy to fit into my daily routine’.
The only difference I can see between the two machines is that the Elise (£20 more than the iTouchsure) has a rechargeable battery and a slightly better build quality. However, the Elise doesn’t come with the same discrete bag that the cheaper model does; which we found disappointing. Another disappointing aspect of the models are the flimsy and cheap looking connecting wires, raising the question, are the models durable? The build quality of the iTouchsure is also pretty poor, it feels and looks cheap and for nearly £70 I would expect better quality. The Elise is slightly better but still made of a thin plastic. Aside from the poor design qualities of both these machines, they are effective, improving pelvic floor muscle strength and tone. Sure RRP £58.65 Elise RRP £79.56
