I am always interested in anything that can make the process of getting a coffee into my system quicker, and the JML San Siro Coffee Machine Compact can offer you such a wide variety of drinks it promises to be a good coffee companion. This machine uses San Siro coffee and tea capsules but is also compatible with all the Nespresso range, this opens you up to a huge amount of beverage choice. It’s reasonably compact, 11.8 x 36.5 x 25cm which means it’s kind of tall and kind of long but narrow, so it won’t hog too much of your kitchen top. It comes with an 800ml water tank that will provide you with 2-4 drinks depending on the size and provides 19 bar of water pressure for the perfect crema on top for your espresso, this is created from the pressure of the water that’s forced through the ground coffee and produces a smooth, creamy finish on the coffee.

There is a handy built-in capsule ejection system which means you don’t have to touch the hot capsules after you’ve made your drink, there are hot and cold functions to let you choose between temperatures as well as the size of your drink. The adjustable pouring spout means you can adjust it to the size of your cup whether it’s a latte glass or espresso cup you can make your drink hands free without spilling a drop, the general build quality is poor in some areas, the plastic feels thin in place, the drip tray is and the metal closure is a little snappy.

The biggest issue we found was filling the water take, it isn’t easily accessible as it sits at the rear ot the machine which is usually pressed up against your wall, the water tank isn’t removeable and the lid flips up towards the back also which means we have to keep moving the machine every time we wanted to fill it, you will also need to use a jug which isn’t provided. This machine comes in your bog standard black but also six funky coloured designs, Pink, Blue, Carbon, Light Green, Race Red and Violet and has a rinsing and descaling function for maintenance as well as an energy saving mode. We loved the wide variety of drinks this machine can make, hot or cold, big and small but that water tank is frustrating, and the build quality could do with a boost before it is worth the full asking price.
