The Trailknit Pro-Armor Tee from Dainese is a protective and functional base layer for trail riding that allows you to integrate protective elements to your apparel when you need it. This is a first from the world of bike wearables which provides all the benefits of a traditional next-to-skin base layer, including temperature regulation and muscle compression, with the added bonus of options for shoulder and back protection when needing to layer up.
The Trailknit Pro-Armor Tee is made from a high-performance Dryarn, which helps to provide ventilation on warmer days and insulation on the cooler days when you need it. It comes in a low-profile design to reduce the futuristic robot look and allow you the freedom of movement and all-day comfort. The Pro-Armor shoulder pads and back protector are both removeable: the back protector is thick but with lots of ventilation holes, so its light and flexible with the whole tee weighing only 0.52kg.
The Tee has been made to be abrasion, tear and anti-pilling resistance to help it stay in good shape underneath the rest of your gear. To keep you in good shape there is also bacteriostatic, hypoallergenic and anti-odour treatments so you can hug people to celebrate a particularly good ride without the risk of grossing them out with body odour. The Tee also has a seamless construction to prevent irritation and chaffing, plus there is differentiated weaving with compression areas and interwoven micromesh sections to increase airflow for comfort.
The Trailknit Pro-Armor Tee is nice and stretchy and provides a tight fit. It can’t work miracles - you will get warm with this amount of padding so close to the skin - but the ventilation certainly helps to keep things bearable. The form fitting profile looks good and the removeable armour makes it a versatile piece. RRP £154.95
