Microplane Container Grater

£39.95

I think we can all agree that most dishes are made a bit better with a sprinkling of cheese on top, and so most meals, I have a handy grater and a block of cheese on the table ready to add a little cheesy flair to any dish. Therefore, with graters being used in my house almost every day, I was excited to see the new Container Grater from Microplane, which allows you to grate, collect, serve and store your favourite ingredients all in one unit.

The new Microplane Container Grater we got to test out came in a lovely cashmere beige colourway, giving a subtle and modern look to the grater that looks just as much of a kitchen accessory as it is a functional tool. I personally love graters, which catch everything in a box below, because I find them easier and more stable to use. Plus, they’re a lot tidier than having to scoop up all your delicious gratings afterwards. The Microplane Container Grater delivers on all these aspects, whilst looking great in your kitchen with a wooden lid.

The grating plate is made up of coarse, ultra-sharp stainless steel grating blades, which allow you to effortlessly grate your chosen ingredient into the container box below. The grater has a non-slip base that stops the grater box from moving whilst in use for added stability and safety when grating. This makes grating super easy and leaves less of a worry about the grater accidentally slipping, causing a small accident. The container has a generous 532ml capacity, ensuring you can grate large quantities without having to empty the container frequently. Once you’re ready to use your grated ingredient, you just turn the grater over, and the end has a small hole perfect for shaking your grated goods onto your desired dish or recipe. I like how secure the grating plate feels, and even when used to shake your grated ingredient out, it stays in place well. However, you can remove this with ease and serve your grated food directly from the container. Then, if you have grated a little too much, or want to store leftover grated products, the Microplane Container Grater also comes with an airtight plastic lid, so you can put leftover cheese or vegetables back into the fridge ready for other meals.

One of my favourite things about the Microplane Container Grater is that it also comes with a wooden lid. This not only gives a lovely look to the grater, but it also doubles as a cheese board or resting spot to place things like cheeses during meals. This means that the grater becomes part of the theatre of the meal, providing an attractive and sophisticated place to store things before they are generously grated onto your favourite dish at the table. Plus, the wooden lid also doubles as a protective cover for the grater, ensuring the blades remain sharp and tucked away to avoid any injuries.

Overall, the Microplane Container Grater makes the perfect addition to your festive meal prep and table settings, allowing you to add everything from cheese and grated vegetables to dishes, to a lovely sprinkling of chocolate or lemon zest to finish off drinks and your favourite festive baked goods. If you’ve got a budding chef in your life that you’re looking for a present for or are looking to get into some festive baking this Christmas and Thanksgiving, the Microplane Container Grater is a brilliant all-around grater option that feels sturdy to use, looks great and makes grating and storage a breeze with the all-in-one unit.
