As a keen, but slow runner, I prefer to hit the road with some music in my ears to motivate me and keep my pace up. The issue however, is that the area I live in has some very busy roads and some rather questionable characters, so not being able to hear the traffic and weirdos makes jogging (especially at night) a risky business. I was so excited to receive the Trekz Titanium from AfterShokz due to the unique structure, unlike regular in-ear earphones or over ear headphones the Trekz keep the ear canal free by placing the ear pieces just in front of the ear on the very edge of the cheek bones (it doesn’t look as weird as my poor description suggests).

These wireless stereo headphones provide a safe alternative to regular devices as your open ear can still hear everything around you keeping you safe on the road, the earbuds use bone conduction technology to deliver music through your cheekbones, it sounds odd but it highly effective. Constructed with a lightweight and flexible titanium one-size-fits all wrap around head band it makes it durable and portable as well as comfortable, it has been made with exercise in mind by ensuring its sweatproof (IP55 certified) and secure at all times. Not only can you listen to music while working up a sweat, these headphones are also good for enjoying some of your favourite locations with your favourite tunes, hear the birds sing whilst enjoying some classical music or enjoy the song of crashing waves to the back drop of some relaxing indie track, you can also take calls on the move.

The PremiumPitch+ aims to provide a premium audio experience, with LeakSlayer technology helps to reduce natural sound leakage, it connects easily via Bluetooth 4.1 (10m range) and will provide you with six hours continuous play per 1.5hour full charge (that’s more than anyone should be exercising). The EQ pre-sets boost bass and reduce vibration on the go, the dual noise cancelling microphones exclude background noise for clearer calls, the Audrey Says voice prompts guide users through power, pair, play and talk, I think this is slightly overkill for a straightforward set up but its nice to have someone to chat to you. The Trekz come with a Hassle-free 2-year warranty, it has a sensitivity of 100 ± 3dB, standby time of 10 days and weighs just 36g. We must point out that although the audio is acceptable, due to the design of these earphone you won’t get the same quality as you would from over-ear or in-ear headphones, you will also lose quality due to the Bluetooth compression like regular wireless head set, however what you gain is safety and awareness of your surrounds and for me this wins every time.
