As someone who gets to play with gadgets and the latest tech for a living, you couldn’t be blamed for assuming I would have the most up-to-date gear at home. But rather shamefully, I cling onto some ancient relics like the Canon 350D, a Sony tv that’s older and heavier than I am and an iPod Classic that is about ten years old. The iPod is my biggest frustration, as time after time I get given these awesome Bluetooth headphones that I can’t use with my out-of-date player: Enter the KS Wireless Music Adaptor.
This small box harbours the power to convert wired headphones to Bluetooth, send TV audio to Bluetooth headphones and transform car Aux to Bluetooth. This adaptor has two modes; the Transmitter mode converts your TV, PC, MP3 player, turntable, or similar device to Bluetooth so you can pair it with your Bluetooth headphones or speaker, and Receiver mode works the opposite way by converting any speaker, headphones, radio, car stereo, Hi-Fi system or similar so you can pair it with your Bluetooth mp3 or smart phone.
The KS Wireless Music Adaptor is easy to use - simply plug it into your chosen device, select either Transmit or Receive, enable Bluetooth and pair it with your device. The adaptor has a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery that will give you about nine hours of playtime as a receiver or thirteen hours as a transmitter (off the back of a two-hour charge). You get a Bluetooth range of up to ten meters, which is ok, but I would like to see wider range so you aren’t limited to one room. The 3.5mm Aux cable included is very short, which is handy for keeping things neat and tidy, and there is also a small 3M Dual Lock strip included that allows you to stick it onto your device. I think a case with a clip could be more useful here, rather than sticking Dual Lock all over your devices.
The KS Wireless Music Adaptor’s sound quality is as good as any Bluetooth transmitted sound can be to this date - it won’t be good enough for the audiophiles, but for the rest of us it will be simple and effective. RRP £30
