Ever look at your bedside lamp, then look at your cuddly toy (I know you have at least one) and think, “Why hasn’t anybody mashed these two things together?” Well no, neither have we, but that is exactly what SuckUK are best at - thinking outside the box (usually so far out of the box that the box is a dot on the horizon.)

On first inspection, this looks like something that Sid from Toy Story may have put together in his bedroom…in fact, on second inspection, it still looks like this. My partner was immediately taken with the headless bear and insisted he was cute - I remain unconvinced. The lamp is surprisingly well made; the shade is a beautiful glossy and silky black with a golden lining inside that contrasts nicely with the black fixture and framing. The bear itself is super soft and fluffy in a lovely golden colour - it’s almost a shame the lampshade gets in the way of giving him a big cuddle. He is nicely balanced and sits quite happily no matter how you have the lamp tilted.

The lamp comes with interchangeable plugs to be used in the USA, UK and the rest of the world. The light itself is thankfully a safe, built-in LED that only looks like a bulb, so it doesn’t kick out the heat of a regular bulb ( I don’t think I could handle the sight of a headless teddy on fire). Just to be on the safe side, the shade is fireproof and the bear is fire retardant as well as being safe for children over 36 months (of course, this does not cover nightmares). The light produces a warm glow that isn’t particularly bright, so it doesn’t work well as a reading light. This is very much a novelty decorative piece, and at £100 a lamp you will have to really want one of these to cough up the cash. After a few weeks of use, I must admit he is growing on me, and if nothing else he is certainly a conversation starter. RRP £100
