From the moment Snake was released, it was clear that gaming on mobile phones was going to be massive. With their high-quality visuals and seamlessly fast processors, the leading smartphones are easily the most powerful pocket gaming devices out there. The major drawback, however, is playing on a touch screen. I got seriously addicted to Rayman last year and downloaded it onto my phone, but it was so frustrating to play that I ended up deleting it. This is where the Gamevice comes to the rescue.

Before I get anyone’s hopes up, the Gamevice products are only currently compatible with iOS systems, iPhone, iPad Mini, iPad Air and iPad Pro. Gamevice claims to revolutionise the way we game by transforming your iOS device into the most powerful handheld gaming experience in history. It works by fitting around your phone like a case and connects to the iPhone through the battery port. The Gamevice features a similar style of buttons to an Xbox controller with two toggles, two back buttons, a directional button and action button. This intuitive design fits comfortably in the hands and all the buttons are in easy reach. My one complaint is that the two toggle buttons are a bit on the stumpy side and can be a fiddly for larger hands.

The Gamevice works alongside the Gamevice Live app, which connects you to over 650 compatible games, a collection that includes titles such as Bio Shock, Grand Theft Auto, HALO, FIFA 15, Call of Duty, and is continuing to grow.. When the Gamevice isn’t in use, the two pieces come together and connect via a magnet, making it compact and easy to store away.

We enjoyed playing with the Gamevice - it is well made and brings a whole new of gaming on your iPhone into play: if you are into your games, it could be a worthwhile investment. RRP $99.95
