The Sports TENS 2 works in a few different ways: the TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) can relieve pain by encouraging the body to release endorphins and block pain signals to the brain, it can also be used as an EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) which sends the muscle into contraction with the aim of toning and shaping the muscle through stimulation.
The Sports TENS 2 comes in a simple, compact and portable design (115mm x 56mm x 23mm without the clip) and has over 50 pre-set programs that have been specifically designed to help with all stages of training and recovery. In the kit you get the Sports TENS 2 unit, belt clip, two L-ST2 lead wires, four 50 x 50mm superior self-adhesive electrode pads (with a life of 12-20 applications), one Li-ion rechargeable battery (will last up to one week on a full charge), charging cradle, UK power adaptor, black transit pouch and manual.
It is simple to use with 27 EMS programs, 10 TENS programs, 10 massage programs and eight spaces left for save your own personalised programs. It has enough memory for a 30-day exercise program comprised of three uses a day, it also records usage time and average intensity. The Sports TENS 2 is comfortable to use; you can easily change the strength to ensure that you can find the right intensity for you. The manual isn’t 100% clear but with a bit of use it becomes self-explanatory. The display is a good size and easy to read.
Now, like all EMS machines, you won’t end up with big bulging muscles without putting in the extra graft of a good diet and workout routine, but it could definitely help alongside these. After using it, it certainly feels like your muscles have had a good workout. I am already convinced of the benefits that TENS machines can bring when it comes to pain relief and I found the Sports TENS 2 performed as expected and helped with sore muscles and joints.
