You would think a group of thirty-somethings would have had enough life experience by now to be able to have a sophisticated evening in without it ending in debauchery, so did we, sadly this was not the case for a night that will forever be known as red wine tsunami night. First, a glass got knocked over on the table, oops no problem, we can clean this. Second came the glass of red wine smashed on the carpet, followed by a “helpful” friend throwing tonic on it (“I totally read this somewhere” becoming the quote of the night) thus spreading it further. This was all topped off with, not one, but TWO glasses getting dropped on the sofa as the man babies fell asleep mid drink. After considering swapping my friends for some that are more refined, like a group of angry Rhinos. We decided to give the Bissell Stain Eraser Cordless Spot and Stain Cleaner a go.

This cordless machine promises to instantly remove stains anywhere… right away! With a 300ml clean capacity, it works with a Professional Spot and Stain formula and can be used to spray, scrub and used as suction to extract stains from carpet, upholstery and car interiors. If we do end up inviting the Rhinos instead of our mates, it’s good to know Bissell is suitable for pet owners too, you get 15mins run time for 4 hours charge (1 month standby charge), which doesn’t sound a lot but should be more than enough for one stain. The stain remover is compact at 18 (H) x 14 (W) x 42 (D) cm, it is weighty at 2kg but remains comfortable during use, its portable design makes it easy to move from the stairs, to the car to the carpet, and hard floors in any room.

There are 3 modes to employ Spray, Scrub and Suction, the spray mode sprays diluted BISSELL formula onto the stain, you can then agitate the area with the scrubbing brush on the bottom of the machine whilst the powerful suction extracts the stain away. It is powerful enough to remove stains like red wine, fruit juice, food grease, coffee, tracked in dirt as well as urine on carpets, rugs, sofa and upholstery for those parties that get seriously out of hand. We were really pleased with the performance of the Stain Eraser, it made light work of even the nastiest looking stains, the spray can be a bit over generous at times and leave some wet marks, and the weight means holding it vertically can get tiring after a while, however it is a small price to pay for successful removable of red wine from your curtains.
