The Tethera boot has a beautiful, classic look about it, in a rugged brown leather. It is classified as a 3-Season hill walking boot, suitable for the Lakeland Fells and the Scottish Hills.

The Tethera‘s upper features an Alpine Style design and is made from one-piece leather, 2.4-2.6mm, in a naturally water repellent full-grain European hide. This water-resistant leather is backed up by a Sympatex waterproof lining on the inside, which keeps out water whilst forming a breathable membrane around the foot to help prevent you from overheating. It also features a padded, integrated tongue that is soft and tactile.

The midsole provides support and protection to the foot without being too ridged, which allows for a more natural walking gait whilst remaining tough enough to handle rugged terrains. You are in good hands with a Vibram Masai/Micro sole, which has a full rubber abrasion-resistant rand and a shock-absorbing micro mid-layer between sole and foot.

The Tethera is available in sizes 7.5-14 in men’s and 3-8.5 in women’s, including ½ sizes, and in five widths: XN, N, Med, W, XW. They are lighter than they look, at only 736g in a size 9. The Tethera boots are extremely comfortable straight out of the box; they hug the foot and ankle without being too constrictive, and they are nicely insulating, so your toes will stay toasty warm during the cold days. However, on warmer days things can get a little too hot inside, as despite the Sympatex lining, there is next to no ventilation.

The Tethera feel light on your feet and put a spring in your step, with enough grip on rocks to have you jumping about like a mountain goat. If you are looking for a traditional hiking boot that puts comfort first, then the Tethera might be right for you (as long as your feet don’t get too hot on warmer days.) RRP £199.99
