Freewaters was set up in 2010, San Francisco, by two surfers/product designers with the dream of producing footwear for those who want to travel without limitation, but at the same time help give something positive back to the world. This has been achieved by ensuring that each pair sold helps to fund clean drinking water projects in small communities in Kenya, Haiti and the Philippines and have so far completed 80 water projects to date. You can feel good about giving this company your money which is a rare feeling these days, the Tall Boy Trainer Knit comes in Light Grey, Olive and Black/Grey, when you place your order you can personally select which water project you would like to support, building rain catchments in Haiti, dig wells in rural farming communities in Kenya or provide water for indigenous people in the Philippines. Having to select and effectively reject two other projects is a tough choice to make but highlights the vast areas in need of clean water and could have a positive effect of educating and encouraging people to donate directly to the charities.

The Tall Boy has been created as a comfortable all rounder that can be worn all day whether you are in the office, out with friends or on overseas adventures due to the extra thick cushioning, fully breathable knit fabric and lightweight feel. The uppers have been engineered with air flow zones to help keep your feet cool, the seamless design also eliminates any pinch points and potential blisters.  The Zoned Rubber helps to provide grip and durability but only where you need it, in the heels and toes to keep the weight down. These shoes aren’t good in the rain and become slippery on muddy surfaces, however they are comfortable straight out of the box, nice and light, and the stiff sole puts a spring in your step whilst all the ventilation keeps your feet cool. Oh, and did I mention they look awesome? RRP £75
