QuietOn 3 Sleep Earbuds
RRP: £229
When I first received the QuietOn 3 earbuds for review, I thought to myself; "Not another pair of earbuds!" However, that's not all these amazing things are: whilst at a glance, the QuietOn 3s look much like any other set of earbuds, they have the opposite purpose to most. They provide you with a quieter world.
A lot of headphones and earbuds include noise cancelling features that help to block out the sounds of streets, talking, and other annoying distractions when you are trying to listen to your music. This can be either active or passive; however, creating active noise cancelling without active soundwaves is a different ballgame. The QuietOn 3 earbuds manage to use silent active noise cancelling to block out those annoying noises, including snoring!
The main purpose of these QuietOn 3 earbuds is to provide you with a silent night’s sleep. There is no Bluetooth connectivity, no music coming through your earbuds, and when you have them in, the majority of sounds are blocked out or reduced. For instance, the wind at the window was cancelled out, whilst the sharp sound of my alarm came through, albeit muted. I'm glad of this, as I was a bit worried about waking up on time!
Out of the box you get the earbuds, three sets of alternative foam eartips, and a USB charger. The QuietOn 3 earbuds are nicely packaged in a small white charging case and the earbuds themselves are very small, sleek, and fit comfortably in your ears. Due to the functionality of the QuietOn 3 earbuds, they are clearly targeted at those people who have tried (and failed) to get a good night of undisturbed sleep. If you work night shifts and sleep through the day, live next to a busy road, or simply have a partner or member of the family that snores through a megaphone, then these earbuds could be the solution to all your problems. The noise cancelling has been specifically tailored and optimised to block out snoring and other ambient noises. If you think your normal noise cancelling headphones can do this, then you’re wrong. The active noise cancelling on the QuietOn 3 earbuds can block lower frequency sounds that your normal headphones would be unable to address.
The QuietOn 3 earbuds are certainly a great product for an age-old problem. If stuffing cotton wool into your ears isn’t cutting it for you, and there is no way to get your partner to curb the snoring, then these may be worth investing in. As noise cancelling is the only feature of these earbuds, it does make them a bold investment, as they currently go for just under £200 on the market. If feel like you have tried everything to get a good night’s sleep, and the QuietOn earbuds don’t work, maybe nothing will!
