As more and more activity trackers flood the market it is hard to know where to start, the iHealth Edge is offering all the tech for half the price but is it true that you get what you pay for? Let’s take a look at what you get with the iHealth Edge, as you would expect this activity monitor tracks your steps, sleep, calories and measures it against your personal goals, it also displays the time and can tell you how you have performed with feedback display. Out of the box you get two adjustable wrist bands (black and grey), a waist clip, a sleep wrist band, a charging dock and the device itself, this is more than you would get from some of its pricey competitors, the sleep wrist guard is a really nice touch as I never enjoyed wearing my Fitbit at night.

The waist guard is another good idea so there is another way of wearing it for example you don’t have to worry about tan lines or dunking it in the washing up bowl. The iHealth Edge app which works alongside the tracker is compatible with iOS and Android and has a simple self-explanatory interface and I liked the characters that are used to represent different aspects of your activity like a little frog that tells you have many steps you are away from your goal, so far so good.

The problems started with trying to get the app and tracker to talk to each other, sometimes it would connect and sometimes it wouldn’t, sometimes it would simply freeze, I felt the stepper was a little over sensitive also as when comparing it to my other pedometers it was going over and giving me inaccurate results however the sleep monitor seemed to be fairly reliable. I was really routing for this to work but I am afraid you really do get what you pay for here, it doesn’t matter how cute the icons are or how many extras are included it is just too inconsistent which renders it fairly worthless no matter how little money you may pay for it.
