POC is a Swedish company founded in 2005 when it broke into the market with ski racing products featuring new ideas and solutions to improve ski racing safety, successfully reducing the force transmitted to the brain and body in case of a crash, since then they have moved into a wide range for sports safety wear, apparel, and sunglasses.

The Do Blade Sunglasses from POC come in a range of styles and lens options, including Hydrogen White (Gold Mirror), Lead Blue Translucent and the rather funky looking Green Cannon. We received the sleek Hydrogen White (Gold Mirror) featuring POC’s Clarity lens technology, this has been developed in collaboration with world leaders in optics, Carl Zeiss Vision. With the aim of creating precise, uninterrupted and enhanced light which is able to support better reaction times and control. Some of the most beautiful times to head out on the bike can be the most hazardous, the soft golden sun stretching out across the horizon in spring and autumn can easily dazzle you at a turn on the road leaving you vulnerable. Therefore, it is imperative that your eyes are protected when on the road, the Clarity lenses manage different types of light across the spectrum and different types of terrains.

The pair we received are designed for road cycling in bright conditions, with focus on increasing the contrast of the road surface to allow potential hazards to be seen clearly. The Do Blade is a dedicated sports frame, injected in Grilamid to keep the weight down whilst sustaining durability and flexibility, the lenses are interchangeable for different conditions, the rubber inserts and adjustable nose piece are made from a hydrophilic rubber which hold the glasses firmly in place. These glasses have an anti-fog and Ripel treatments that help keep fog, dirt and grime off your lenses and makes water pearl off and they come with a rather oversized protective case. Other than a slightly creaky left ear piece we loved these glasses, the large lens provides a good peripheral view, whilst the Gold Clarity lenses ensure sharp and clear optics. RRP £175
