The Road Angel Pure has been designed to make you safer on the roads by giving you a clearer picture of the journey ahead and any hazards you may face, including speed camera detection alerts.

Now, like the rest of you, I fly into autopilot on the normal daily commute. However, when I am travelling to destinations new, I find it hard enough to work out which exit I am taking on the oncoming octopus-limbed roundabout, let alone noticing that the speed has dropped down into a 40mph zone. I have been using the Road Angel Pure for five months now, and it has saved me a lot of stress. It was given to me with a 12-month subscription, and I will be renewing it at the end of this year.

The device unit costs £249.99, although you will need to purchase a subscription as well to get real time updates. There are three options to choose from - 12 months at £99.99, 24 months at £189.99 and 36 months at £249.99. All packages offer exactly the same features, but paying for longer brings the monthly subscription value down, and I will be paying for the 36 months next, as now that I’ve used Road Angel Pure, I won’t go on long journeys without it.

The subscription gives live coverage to:

Mobile Camera Vans

Average Speed Cameras

Fixed Speed Cameras

Red Light Cameras

Lidar Laser Guns

Blackspot Locations

School Zones

Firmware Updates

Road Speed Library

Over-speed Warnings

I’m reviewing this product in the UK, and this device has become even more useful since new speeding laws were introduced in April last year. Speeding fines have gotten heavier; for example, if you’re caught doing 36mph in a 30mph zone, you could be fined 25% to 75% of your weekly wage and receive three penalty points. If you get caught doing 51mph or more in a 30mph limit, you’ll be fined 125% to 175% of your weekly wage and may receive a driving ban of up to 56 days, or six penalty points. These high fine amounts could make the cost of the Road Angel Pure worth it for the protection.

I use my iPhone as a Sat Nav, so the Pure has tied in nicely with this and I can concentrate more on other road users than my speed and where I am going. However, if you already have an advanced Sat Nav with speed camera locations and limit warnings, it may not be worth purchasing this device unless you want to be fully protected.
