With so much to do when you have kids, being able to keep your baby entertained while you can get things done is a must. The solution to this is a baby bouncer, where your baby can gently rock themselves and play, whilst keeping you hands free. BabyBjörn, a leading baby accessory brand, has a whole range of baby bouncers, which are designed to help make life with young children easier and more enjoyable.

The baby bouncer we got to review is the Bouncer Bliss, which is a lightweight and handy baby bouncer that you can take with you wherever you go to provide a cosy and safe place for your baby to play close to you. The Bouncer Bliss we tested came in a lovely Sand Grey colourway, which is a lovely neutral colour. This is made from a 3D jersey material that is super soft and made from 80% polyester, 16% cotton and 4% elastane to gently hug your baby with a little stretch for added comfort.

In terms of the design, as with all of the products from BabyBjörn, the Bouncer Bliss has been designed with experts and medical specialists. This means that the bouncer has been ergonomically designed to provide the best support for your baby’s back, neck and head across three different positions. In addition, the bouncer has been recognised by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute as a hip health product, so you can use it knowing your baby is supported by the safe and healthy design. Plus, as the bouncer comes in such close contact with your baby, the fabric is super soft on their skin and without any harmful chemicals, so it's safe for them to touch and even taste.

As I mentioned, the bouncer has three different position options that range from a more upright position to a more laid-down position. To adjust between these, the back has a little lever that can gently move the bouncer between these positions. These positions are designed to offer the perfect level of support depending on the age of your baby. The bouncer is therefore designed to support your baby from the newborn stage, and up until the age of 2. As your baby grows, the positioning of the bouncer allows them greater rocking ability, which helps them develop balance and motor skills as they figure out how to make the bouncer rock by wiggling their arms and legs.

The back lever also allows you to fold the bouncer flat, which makes it easy to transport with you on the go. In fact, its collapsible design makes it ideal for taking with you on the go in the bottom basket of your pram, to provide a safe and comfortable place for your little one, whether you’re at home or at a friend's or family member's house. Plus, with the entire material seat cover being machine washable, you can take the bouncer with you wherever you go without worrying about any mess or dirt that might get on it. If it gets dirty, the whole thing can be slipped off the metal frame super easily, and thrown in the washing machine for easy cleaning.  

When your child reaches 9KG or starts trying to sit up in the bouncer, they have outgrown the bouncer function of the Bouncer Bliss. However, by just turning around the fabric of the seat, the bouncer can then be used as a comfortable seat for your child when they have greater mobility. The Bouncer Bliss can be used as a chair for your child up until they are around 29lbs. 

I was excited to see that the Bouncer Bliss we tested came with the Soft Friends Toy for Bouncer Accessory (£49.90), which attaches to the side of the baby bouncer. The metal arm is covered in s fabric cover, made from soft cotton and 3D jersey. Attached to the arm are three little animal shapes that are made from 100% BCI-certified cotton, ensuring that even if your baby puts them in their mouth, they’re completely safe to do so. The Soft Friends set we tested came in a lovely neutral colourway, matching the neutral colour of the Bouncer Bliss we tested. They provide a lovely, fun addition to the bouncer, and can help keep your baby distracted whilst developing their motor skills at the same time. This makes a great addition to the Bouncer Bliss and is the perfect accessory for keeping your child entertained.

If you’re a new parent and are looking for a way to keep your baby close to you, whilst allowing you to still have your hands free to get things done, then a bouncer is an essential. The Bouncer Bliss provides a lovely, supportive and safe space where your baby can rest and play. I love how the bouncer is designed to grow with your baby, with three different positions to support your child as you grow – even becoming a chair once your baby has left the bouncer stage! Plus, the Soft Friends bouncer accessory makes a perfect addition to make the bouncer even more fun for your kids.
