The relish reminds me of a mango chutney, but with the delightful sweetness and tang of pineapple. The pineapple is then mixed with the chillies, a little ginger and mustard, with the sweetness of the pineapple helping to balance the spice. The final touch of a little cider vinegar gives the relish its delicious sharp and vinegary tang, which you’d expect from any good relish of this type. Together, the flavours all marry beautifully, creating a sweet, spicy and tangy relish that packs a punch flavour-wise.

The Pineapple & Chilli relish is delicious thinly spread on a sandwich for a little kick, but my personal favourite was using it in marinades and sauces to give that spicy and sweet flavour. I’ve done similar things with mango chutney before to give a nice sweet yet balanced flavour, and the Pineapple & Chilli relish was perfect for this too. I could mix it through dressings, add it to marinates for chicken, pork or even fish, and was left with a delicious flavour. However, even with a bit of cheese, the relish was delightful and kind of addictive with the heat of chilli spice at the end. I can imagine this would be lovely on a burger or used on the BBQ to almost caramelise on the grill for a delicious sweet and spicy glaze.

Having tested a few chutneys, relishes and sauces from Tracklements, I remain impressed with the quality of their ingredients, which use locally sourced produce where possible, to ensure that every single condiment tastes as good as it can.
