If you live with friends or family, you probably know the all too common experience of going to plug your phone in, only to realise your cable or plug has been borrowed. Therefore, I was excited to see the PowerCord from Twelve South, which features an all-in-one power adapter and cable that cannot be separated. The PowerCord provides a complete unit ready to charge your devices up – the only worry is that the whole thing might go missing now!

The PowerCord is an innovative design from TwelveSouth, featuring an adapter plug with a cable attached that cannot be removed. The PowerCord we tested came with a 10ft flat cable, ensuring that you can comfortably charge your phone, regardless of where you plug it in. I personally love a long cable because it means I can use my phone whilst plugged in, whether I’m sitting on the sofa or in bed - without feeling tethered to the plug sockets.

I love how simple yet effective the design is, as it stops the constant search for a plug and power cord that matches to charge your device. The task of finding a cable and adapter that matches can be a challenge, especially with so many different cable types used to charge devices nowadays. Therefore, the PowerCord simplifies charging and provides you with a complete power adapter and cord that cannot be separated for a seamless, all-in-one system that works without any hassle. 

I like that the PowerCord provides a USB-C charging cable, which has become more universally used across Android phones and various devices in recent years. I personally use a USB-cable to charge my phone and earphones, so the PowerCord was perfect. However, as the cable and plug cannot be separated, it wouldn’t be suitable for those requiring a MicroSD or lighting cable to charge their device. In terms of its design, I like how slimline the plug adapter is, which is a nice change from the rather chunky plugs you typically get to charge your phone. This low-profile design means it's great for fitting easily in tight spaces.

Once plugged in, the charging speed from the PowerCord is pretty impressive. This is largely thanks to the charger supporting fast charging, thanks to the charger's 30W output. This means that you can plug in your device, enjoy the freedom of the 10ft cable, and very quickly your phone will be fully charged and ready to go.

Overall, if you hate always searching for the correct cable and a plug, and want a charging system that is easy and effective, then the PowerCord is an excellent choice that simplifies the whole charging process into a single unit that charges with ease. Whilst the price is a little higher for a charging unit, the fast charging speed, long cable lengths and effectiveness of the all-in-one design make it worth it – but only if you require a USB-C charging cable!
