The Lifesaver Jerrycan comes in either 10000UF or 20000UF - we will be looking at the 20000UF in a little more detail. Unlike its little brother which is only available in one colour, the 20000UF comes in either Tan, Green or Blue, so you have the choice of either blending in or standing out from your surroundings. This super robust water purifier is capable of filtering 20,000 litres of skanky water you wouldn’t want to touch your shoes into clean drinking water. It has a replaceable microbiological water filter that uses ultra-filtration technology removing >99.99% of viruses, > 99.9999% of bacteria and > 99.9% of parasitic cysts.
The LifeSaver Jerrycan holds up to 18.5 litres of water at any one time, designed for groups on expeditions and adventurers on overland travel or simply families setting themselves up for off-the-grid living. The jerry can allow you to carry and store dirty water and then filter it only when you need it, preventing recontamination of previously filtered water. The filtered water can be used for drinking, cooking and washing and with the addition of the LifeSaver shower attachment, it has an activated carbon filter which removes chlorine, taste and odour. It doesn’t taste like regular tap water, but it certainly doesn’t taste bad. The Jerrycan measures up at 36 x 18 x 51cm and weighs 4.35kg when empty. You will have to look over the instructions when you first use it, but it is simple enough and becomes second nature very quickly: just fill, pump and drink; the water will be ready to drink instantly, and the materials used are both BPA and BPS free. There is also a failsafe automatic indicator to let you know when the cartridge needs replacing.
