I don’t think I could have asked for better weather to test out the Senz˚ Automatic Deluxe than what we experienced today: with winds reaching 46mph, we had rain, snow, and everything in between!

The Automatic Deluxe from Senz˚ isn’t just a pretty package, it has been thoughtfully designed to withstand windspeeds of up to 100km (roughly 60mph) without the frustratingly embarrassing event of it turning inside out, making you look like you have been dragged through a wet hedge backwards in seconds. This excellent attribute is down to the umbrellas unique aerodynamic shape which, unlike traditional round umbrellas, has a longer shape which stretches out in one direction. This lets the wind pass through without flipping it inside out, and it really does work, even in the nastiest of winds. Senz˚ provides a little diagram on the label to demonstrate the correct way to hold the umbrella for the best protection based on the direction of the wind. You don’t have to worry about catching your fingers in any mechanisms as this brolly is fully automatic and pops open with a push of a button. The button is a little stiff for my small fingers, but it may loosen up over time, and to collapse it back down simply press the button again and both ends together to reset ready for next time.

All details seem to have been considered here with smooth plastic caps (‘Eyesavers’) covering the pointed metal ends, so you don’t have to worry about stabbing someone in the eye or getting it caught up in their hair, and the Automatic Deluxe also has a SPF 50+ coating to keep you protected from the sun. As if just being an awesome brolly wasn’t enough, the Automatic Deluxe looks beautiful: it has leather trim on the handle and sleeve and a glossy high-quality canopy that wouldn’t look out of place at any event. The canopy is quick drying; one good shake will get most of the water off and then you can pop it in the sleeve. Even the sleeve has been considerately designed, with a magnetic fastening which means you can easily slide it in the wide opening rather than wrestle it into a narrow sleeve like cheaper umbrellas.

I never thought I would be so smug at owning an umbrella, but the Senz˚ Automatic Deluxe truly is the best! Not only does it look stylish, but it is so effortless to use and won’t let you down whatever the weather. € 89.90
