Wilf Carradice kick-started his company nearly 80 years ago by making saddle bags and panniers. He discovered that a bag he had created for himself was superior to those already on the market, and throughout the ‘40s and ‘50s his bags became the number one choice for hard riders and clubmen.
The Super C Handlebar Bag has been designed to keep all your essentials safe and protected from the weather, whilst also keeping them close to hand when you’re cycling. By keeping some of your gear at the front of the bike, the bag also helps to distribute weight around the bike more evenly. At 1056g, it isn’t particularly light, but it has a generous capacity of five litres, with dimensions of 26cm wide x 16cm high x 14cm deep.
The Super C attaches to your bike via the KLICKfix system, which makes it easy to put on and take off, and has an optional extender to clear computer mounts or lights. There are two side mesh pockets: the mesh feels durable, but at the same time it doesn’t have any give to it, so it is difficult to get small things out of the bottom. On the inside, there are two internal organiser sections and a zipped internal pocket. The main body is made from Waxed Cotton Duck which is 100% waterproof. On top of the bag, there is a large detachable clearview map case - you know, for those old fashioned drawings that used tell people how to get places before Google Maps came along and sent you to the wrong place. The handlebar fittings are available for up to 32mm in diameter. There is a handy shoulder strap for when you jump off your bike, a detachable light bracket on the base, and the bag has Hi-viz reflectors for extra visibility on the road.
The Super C Handlebar Bag is a robust bag that’s built to last and is super weatherproof. I would prefer the side pockets to have more give, and to maybe have some more pockets inside the bag to keep things organised. The Super C isn’t the best looking bag, and is best suited for those looking for function over style. RRP £70
