Designed with stability and consistency in mind, the Epomaker Magcore 87 keyboard delivers a top-quality keyboard supported by Epomaker’s responsive and customisable software.
When I first saw the Magcore 87 keyboard from Epomaker, I liked how sleek and minimalist the design is, with the entire gasket and most of the keys in a black colourway, while just the ESC, Space, Backspace, and Enter keys feature a transparent blue design. The transparent accents on the keyboard add a touch of uniqueness, allowing you to see the switches underneath and giving the keyboard a fun and high-tech appearance. The keyboard features a full-function tenkeyless layout, which ensures you have all the essential keys you’d need for everyday tasks, with only the larger number pad traditionally seen on the right of a keyboard removed. I like that the keyboard features a slightly compact form compared to a traditional keyboard; this makes it perfect for slightly smaller desk spaces without compromising on the functionality of the keyboard.
In terms of the keys, each one utilises Kalih Box Inductive Switches, which are designed to deliver a stable performance for both typing and gaming sessions. The switches provide a lovely, smooth typing experience to each key, whilst enhancing the precision with which each one registers and responds to your clicks. For enhanced responsiveness, the Magcore 87 delivers an 8k polling rate thanks to its wired connection. This means that the precision of each keystroke is enhanced whilst lag is reduced through the stable wired connection signal. This makes the keyboard perfect for everyday typing accuracy, but especially for competitive gaming sessions to ensure you’re able to respond to the game with speed and accuracy.
One of the things I love most about Epomaker keyboards is the complete customisability across each one, and the Magcore 87 is no different. The keyboard features a customisable actuation point, which means you can adjust the sensitivity of each key for your needs. This means a much higher sensitivity can be achieved for gaming for rapid fire responses, as well as lower sensitivity for deeper presses to make everyday typing sessions satisfying with each click of the key. In fact, each key also features RGB backlighting, which can be further customised to a variety of colours to suit your gaming or office set up, whilst delivering a lovely glow for the keyboard even in low lighting conditions.
Ultimately, the Magcore 87 feels like the perfect choice for an everyday keyboard that is designed with functionality and precision in mind, whilst remaining sleek yet customisable to suit all your gaming or typing needs. This is definitely a great all-round keyboard that can be used across activities to keep you productive all day at work, and then be used to play your favourite games at night without needing to invest in two different keyboard setups. Therefore, thanks to the customisability and actuation flexibility of the keyboard, you are essentially getting multiple keyboards in one unit and all for a single affordable price point.
Pros:
- Durable gasket design with compact but functional keyboard layout
- 8k polling rate for enhanced responsiveness and accuracy
- Adjustable actuation point for enhanced gameplay
Cons:
- Does use a wired connection, which is great for the 8K polling rate, but not ideal if you prefer a wirefree keyboard set up
